last post =(

I can't believe how fast this class went by. I have to say I learned a lot of things I wouldn't have learned in other classes. Most of all, as far as the subject of readin goes, I now know how to look into books and issues more deeply instead of just focusing on what is told to us directly. This class is going to help me a lot in the future because my major is psychology and it is important to look into things more deeply in that subject matter.

This class was so much fun and really laid back which is what i liked about it the most. I also liked the fact that we would always have interesting discussions and talked to every single person in the classroom without anybody feeling left out. I loved the first two books but I wasnt as interested in Random Family; it was too long and full of too much information with way too many characters.

Ms. D is the type of professor who can't be forgotten. I will surely miss this class and am going to take everything I learned in this class with me.

chapters 1-5

So far, I dont think I was pulled into the book like i was with the other two books we've read. Maybe because its really long, or its just full of so much information. Not that I dont understand what's happening, I do understand most of what is happening. I know that the story is based on real life and what used to happen in the past in the bronx, but it is rediculous how the family memebers of the pregnant teen act like it is normal for them to have a baby. If I were part of the faimily, I would try to teach them a lesson. Everything in this book is pretty much negative, and I would say that most of the people's lives are not that great, and they are responsible for all of what is happening to them; well at least most of them

I don't blame the government for making the birth control policy because they actually have a reason. It should be understandable that they don't have enough resources to support all those people. Since China is already over-populated, and if people are allowed to have more than one child, it would make matters even worth. It's not like, all of their rights are being taken away. So i agree with the government.

Alcohol and partying should not be a way for actors to cope with stress in their lives. There are other ways to solve problems. Drinking will most likely make matters worse for them. Britney Spears might have started drugs because of her divorce, but it is partly her fault as well because of the fact that she brought it upon herself. Nobody forced her to go and marry, and have two kids; yet she still goes and does it. I think she shaved her haid just to get attention.

If I were a celebrity, I really dont think I would be able to handle the pressure of constant exposure. I mean, there is a limit to how much somebody can handle. I dont know how they celebrity's are handling it. Yes, if i were a celebrity, then I would like to be on magazine covers and newspapers, but positive issues, not negative lies. So, I believe that celebrity's should have a public and social life. They cant just hide themselves and expect people not to talk about them, because people are going to talk no matter what. As far as the photographers go and the paparazzis we have out there, they're basically just doing their job, I highly doubt anybody can change or do anything about them.

For the case of the police and Sean Bell, if I were the judge, I would definitely give the police some kind of punishment. Sean Bell and his family deserve to have their justice. I would understand if the police shot him once or twice for self-defense just incase he did actually pull out a gun, but he shot 31 TIMES. That is pretty rediculous and there was no point in doing that. That police officer really went too far; and second of all, he drank so that changes everything too. But I would definitely give them a pretty severe punishment for that.

group 4 & hitlists

Some qualities that I look for in a president would be that they should be strong mentally, they should know what they are doing and shouldn't weaken if something wrong occurs. I just think that they should be able to lead the country and keep us safe, & make the right decisions. I don't know if Obama has these qualities or not because I don't know much about him, but as far as Hilary Clinton goes, I know that she probably is mentally strong because she knows how to face such situations since her husband was once president. I am not too sure about her making the right decisions because of the fact the voted for war before and now she is saying that she's going to stop the war. I don't think she knows what she wants. Bush does kind of fit these qualities, because up to this point I have not seen him lose courage. I mean, we are safe right now, nothing has happen to us in the past 7 years that he has been President, so..

If i were a teacher, then my opinion about the hit lists would be that I would report anytime I see a hit list by a student, or even if I receive anything that has violence; because it is better to be safe than to put others in danger. If i were a student, then i would probably report the person too because even if the list or whatever it is looks like its a joke, you never know when it could be serious or not. So, i would just want to stay on the safe side. All hit lists should be taken seriously after thinking about what has happen in other schools.

I think that every story has a moral to it. Every story has a moral to them because there has to be a reason why the story was written. Either to teach somebody something, or just let the readers realize something that not a lot of people realize. Author's are not going to write a story without a moral to it because then there will be no point. The moral may not be shown directly, and you might think that there isnt a moral, but it is there; somewhere, but we just have to look into it in more depth.
As far as the american idol voting style goes, I think that it shoudln't be changed from voting for the best to voting fo the worst. Why want to vote off people who are bad or that viewers dont like when they can just choose who they like the best? I personally dont watch american idol, but I jus think that the voting style should just stay the way it has been for these past few years.

8th grade yearbook

So, I was looking through my old bookbag from middle school to see if I could find something interesting or funny to read; then i came across my eighth grade yearbook. I started to read all of the things all of my friends and teachers wrote to me. It was just so funny how we all used to write five years back from now. I realized that all of us have changed so much since then. Some of the people who wrote in my yearbook I dont even talk to anymore; not that I didn't, I just saw them around. There were some people who I wasn't close to, and now am; some people who I was close to, and now I'm not; also some people who i was close to, and still am! When i compare how all of used to write back then and how we right now, I can say that we are experts. It felt as if i was reading an elementary school kid's writing style. We all have changed tremendously since back then. I thought it was really funny; first of how we used to write, and most of all, WHAT WE WROTE.

final project

My major is psychology, and I'm planning on getting a Ph.D in psychology. I'm still not sure what exactly I want to do with that Ph.D but I think I might go further, into counceling psychologist, or a clinical psychologist. In my project, I'll probably be focusing in on what I need to do in order to get a bachelors degree in psychology and briefly about how to get the Ph.D. I chose psychology to be my major because in high school I actually met a psychologist and after he told our class what he does, I got interested because I love helping people. Even though there are a lot of other jobs that require helping others out, I just think psychology is an interesting subject. I do know that it is going to require a lot of hard work to get to the Ph.D, but I think that if I am motivated, then I'll be able to do it. There are a lot of courses in psychology required in order to qualify getting a B.A in psychology. I will have to take general psych 1 &2, a quantative methods class, a few psychology electives, and experimental psychology classes. I dont think I'll be going to school for all those years straight. I actually think that after i get a masters degree in psychology, I'll take a break, get a job, and then maybe go back to school to get the Ph.D. As far as the format I'm gonna use for the project; I think I'm going to make a scrapbook, not with a lot of pictures but I'll just make it creative. It will kind of be like a paper, but with construction paper.

womens and childrens rights in other countries

I think that our country should be helping women and children recieve their rights in other countries. If we help other countries when they are in need, then I am sure that if the U.S ever needs help, we have countries that will be willing to help us. If we dont do anything about their rights, and don't help them, then we shoudn't expect any help from others. It is important for women and children to have their equal rights because everyone should be treated equally. Just because they are of a different gender doesn't mean that they should be treated equally. It is the same as being treated differently and not having equal rights because of one's ethnicity. I just think that it is completely wrong and I'm sure that there are people out there who strongly believe in what i believe in. Women and children in our country have their equal rights and I do not want to know what my life would be like if I did not have equal rights as every other human here.

no snow day!

I didn't do anything this whole weekend besides my homework and go to work. I am really angry that we have school today or didn't even have a delayed opening. The whole campus is so disguisting right now and it has been snowing all morning. I had to leave my house 1 1/2 hours early so I can get to my class on time; after cleaning my car. My next class is four hours from now and I dont know what im going to do on campus until then. There is never anything to do here at MSU, and I hate being a commuter. I think I might be transfering to another school next spring that is going to be farther from my house so that I'll be able to dorm. I'm through chapter 21 in the Kite Runner and it is getting more interesting. In the middle it became a little slow, but now its getting a little faster, which is a good thing.

changes from back then to today

In my opinion, there have been a lot of positive changes between the women and men. I know that back then, women did not have as many rights as the men. Now, women actually have rights; they are allowed to vote, have whatever job they want, and basically have equal rights as the men. Presently, if the men beat up their wives, the wives can take some legal action against them, where as in the past, the women would have to deal with it. Thank god, there were some people out there in the past who took some action and gave women their rights.

Ghosts of Rwanda

I just think that its sad that people go to this extent. I just dont understand why things like this keeps happening. Don't they realize that we're all human; and everyone should be treated equally? I dont know, its just really shocking and surprising to me still.

The Armenian Genocide

While i was researching, i realized that there have been more Genocide's in the world than I had ever thought of. The Armenian Genocide occured in the early 1900's. I learned that the Armenians first lived in the Ottoman Empire with the Turks, but when the empire started to go down, the Armenian groups started to split apart and become independent. When problems started to occur between the Armenian's and Turks, the Turks called all of the leaders of Armenian's and murdered all of them. The turks, then asked all of the men to help then with the war; instead they killed all of them as well, or they worked to death. Moreover, when only the women and children were left, the Turks told them that they were going to relocate a place to live temporarily; they obviously believed the Turks. The Turks eventually killed them, raped them, they died of hunger, or dehydrated. I thought that the Holocaust is the worse thing that anyone can go through; but there are so many more Genocide's that i have occured in this world which I'm sure not a lot of people are aware of. Reading about the Armenian Genocide kind of made me upset.

Why Genocide Occurs

I think that genocide keeps happening because of the fact that people of a different race think that they are the best ones and nobody is better than them. I'm not saying that everyone is like that, but maybe there are people out there who are and have the power to do what has been done before in the past. I really dont think that we can do anything to stop genocide except to keep writing about what has happen in the past so history doesn't repeat itself. Just like Night and all of the other books about the holocaust and etc.

so much to do!

Okay so I'm in my second semester right now and i have so much work to do. I feel like i dont have enough time to finish everything. We have five readings due for mythology due by tomorrow, and i have about 200 pages to read for psychology due in a week. It's not exactly hard, but it requires so much time. Aside from all that, I still have three other classes and I dont know how I'm going to be able to manage all of this. Also, I hate the fact that I am the commuter because everyday I come to school and I have to wait for the shuttle bus which takes forever to come, with the 2 degree weather we have here at Montclair.
I actually read Night in middle school and really liked it and I still do up to this point. I think that this book is going to help history not repeat itself. The book kept me intrested throughout the whole time and didn't bore me. It included so much detail that it went by so fast while I was reading it. Since this is a true story, I liked it even more because now we know what people had to go through during the holocaust which wasn't even that long ago.

Who i am and my goals

I'm Juhi, I'm from Parsippany, New Jersey and I'm a commuter. My major is psychology and I'm planning on getting a B.A from MSU. I am also aiming for a Ph.D in psychology. Some of the things that I do a lot would be dancing, and spending time with my friends and family. My goal for this class is to actually start having fun while reading books, since im not really fond of reading. Also, another goal would be to become better at critical reading since that is the main reason I am in this class today.
